The river Cam not only gives Cambridge its name, but arguably helps define the city's personality. After all, Cambridge is famous for its rowing and punting, two great traditions practised to this day.
Choose between following the river north up to Baits Bite Lock, before turning back through Fen Ditton and down the other side of the river (~12.5 km/7.8 miles), or heading south along the river to Grantchester, the setting of the recent series of the same name, before weaving back through the countryside and fields (~11 km/7 m). The two routes are quite different, but both offer a chance to escape into the countryside and discover a quaint nearby village. £15 per person; £5 for children under 16 |
